Prof (Dr.) Chitra Rajagopal

Dr. Chitra is closely engaged in the Process Safety & Risk management at IIT Delhi. She is a Distinguished Scientist and former Director General with 35 years’ experience in Research &Development , Project management, Regulatory, Advisory/ Consultancy, Training, in the areas of Integrated Safety (Environment, Explosive, Fire, Chemical, Process), Sustainable and Green Technologies, Hazwaste Management, Disaster Management.

She has also served as the Director of Centre for Fire, Explosive & Environment Safety, DRDO upto Jan 2017. She is a very learned R&D professional with a PhD focused in Chemical Engineering (Heat Transfer) from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

She is recipient of various National , Professional and Institutional awards such as the DRDO Scientist of the Year Award 2010, Lifetime Achievement Award by Society for Reliability and Safety ( 2019), Eminent Engineers Award by The Institution of Engineers 2019, Suman Sharma Award 2019 by National Design Research Forum IEI, Shakti Samman International Women’s Day 2020 by Hon’ble Minister of Women and Child Development, Co-chair, Indo German Energy Forum ( Task Force working group on Safety, Quality, Infrastructure and Legal Framework, Invited by GoI to be Indian rep in RCS task force in Quad Global Green hydrogen partnership; and caries 56 International and 50 National publications with 5542 citations.
